Here is the job description:
The Director of International Education is responsible for planning, oversight, and the effective delivery of services in three major areas: Study Abroad, International Student Services, and International Student Recruitment.
Qualifications:
  - Excellent communication skills.
 
  - Experience traveling internationally.
 
  - Evidence of a proactive and detail-oriented working style.
 
  - Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse constituencies across cultures and customs.
 
  - Minimum educational background of a bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
 
  - Experience working with SEVIS as a DSO and working with international students in an educational environment preferred.
 
  - Direct experience with establishing and/or maintaining study-abroad opportunities desirable.
 
Responsibilities:
  - Serve as the primary international student advocate/resource on the Batesville campus for enrolled international students; work with other areas of the College including Student Life, the International Student Association, and the College’s host family program in Batesville to ensure a positive and beneficial experience for our international students by providing support and programming to integrate them into the Lyon community.
 
  - Design and conduct comprehensive orientations for new international students that promote their success and retention; inform the Registrar of new international students whose native language is not English so that language proficiency can be awarded.
 
  - Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for SEVIS, advising and assisting international students, both degree-seeking and exchange, on F-1 visa regulations and benefits, while maintaining SEVIS compliance and ensuring all student records are current and accurate; stay informed about changes in immigration laws and disseminate relevant changes to students and college personnel.
 
  - Assist with the I-20 process subsequent to the issuance of initial documents by Admissions.
 
  - Counsel and refer international students to College resources; communicate with exchange partners on the status of their students in Batesville.
 
  - Serve as primary contact for overseas recruitment agents and as liaison with Admissions; communicate with external student referral agents on student progress.
 
  - Manage, cultivate, and promote new and existing study abroad programs; keep faculty and students appraised of all available opportunities; provide guidance and support for students engaged in completing these applications; assist students with finding outside scholarships to study abroad; advise students about the documents required for travel and for student visas; and provide pre-departure orientation.
 
  - Manage program budgets effectively.
 
  - Respond to and resolve student/parents/faculty/staff concerns and emergencies involving Lyon College students studying overseas.
 
  - Engage in regular assessment of all aspects of the International Education Program according to the Lyon College Assessment Plan; use assessment data to make recommendations for future program modifications.
